Mission
The Loneliness Institute is the clearinghouse for solutions to the loneliness epidemic.
Mission: Reconnect humanity by supporting innovators and researchers working on wide-impact solutions to the loneliness epidemic.
The loneliness epidemic is hurting our health and society.
It is an under-addressed, widespread crisis – and a significant underlying driver of other social and health crises. We know the problem is large and the harm is real.
Amazing work is being done to address this growing problem. But this work is highly fragmented across academic disciplines, local experiments, and other isolated initiatives.
Many innovative programs have shown promise at alleviating loneliness on a small scale.
We need to find large-scale solutions that reach broad populations:
- Connect the community of experts and practitioners working in the field.
- Cross-fertilize impactful ideas from any source – across disciplines, backgrounds, and types of organizations.
- Solve for siloed, lost, undiscovered or overlooked solutions.
We find and share solutions and best practices that can scale.
Our primary objective is to enable real-world rollouts of large-scale solutions to the loneliness epidemic.
We need to fast-track getting these solutions into communities and the marketplace, to as many people as possible.
We’re the central hub for innovators and researchers who want to share, implement, and measure practical solutions that can achieve mass impact.
Our program creates critical mass and solves for fragmentation in the search for solutions:
- Study – Find, organize, and measure solutions
- Collaborate – Cross-fertilize practitioners and projects
- Share – Get insights and best practices into the field
- Amplify – Help proven solutions to achieve scale
(We are not a consumer-facing resource. We are not focused on studying the problem itself, just the solutions.)
